This comic horror-thriller from Irish director Kit Ryan promises to be one of the highlights of the festival. After a heist goes disastrously wrong, professional thief Ritchie Donovan (Stephen Dorff ) has to take the rap and is sent to Russia to steal a priceless antique cross locked in the safe of a Moscow skyscraper. Ritchie and his psychotic Russian accomplices kill a woman during the robbery and are forced to take hostages when trapped by police on the unused 13th floor. But it’s not the police they need worry about, since an unknown serial killer – a descendant of Ivan the Terrible, no less – plans to go on a beheading spree. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Ritchie has to pull a hostage’s ear off, survive a stabbing, share a kiss under a pile of dead bodies, fight the killer and somehow turn a rat into a makeshift bomb. The gags and gore make for hilarious entertainment.
