Art Museum by the Zoo

This witty romance tells of a young army man, Chul-soo, who returns to the apartment he shares with his girlfriend to discover that she has left to marry someone else. The space is now occupied by a new female tenant, Choon-hee, with whom Chul-soo is forced to share. After some good-natured sparring between the man and his new female acquaintance, the pair begin to collaborate on a screenplay Choon-hee is preparing about a woman who works at an art museum and her zoo-keeper boyfriend. First time director Lee Jeong-hyang, who reputedly based the script on her own experience, has made a wonderfully amusing and intimate film that’s reminiscent of Chekhov’s early comic stories.
