The eagerly awaited new film from director Spike Jonze and writer Charlie Kaufman (the pair responsible for Being John Malkovich), Adaptation is a bizarre and inventive tale about an screenwriter (Nicolas Cage) who suffers from an insurmountable case of writer’s block when hired to adapt The Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean (Meryl Streep). Adaptation has received rave reviews on its recent US release and will be covered in full in the next IFC programme.
