MONTHLY MUST-SEE CINEMA BLOOMSDAY: ROMPING THROUGH ULYSSES

Marking this year’s Bloomsday festivities, our Monthly Must-See Cinema in June is American director Joseph Strick’s Academy-Award-nominated take on James Joyce’s Ulysses, unquestionably the most faithful screen adaptation of the revered and illustrious novel. Shot on location in Dublin and featuring Milo O’Shea as Leopold Bloom, the film was entered into the 1967 Cannes Film Festival only to be withdrawn by Strick when he noticed subtitles for some of the more provocative scenes had been deleted without his permission.

This unique interactive event, organised by At it Again! in collaboration with the Irish Film Institute, presents an evening peppered with party pieces and prizes for the best dressed. So put on your Bloomsday finest for a night that will bring to life the magic of Ulysses. Props for the screening will be supplied from the Bloomsday Survival Kit.
