Confined to a wheelchair in his apartment following an accident, the emotionally distant Jeff (James Stewart) takes to watching the neighbours in nearby apartments, until he witnesses an apparent murder. Together with girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly) they try to identify the killer and in doing so, see something new in one another.
