IFI FAMILY: THE SECRET OF NIMH

Director: DON BLUTH

82 mins, USA, 1982, Blu-Ray

One of the most important figures in early Irish animation, Don Bluth quit Walt Disney Studios in 1979 with several others. This was their first film outside, a beautiful old style drawn animation, but with detailed backgrounds and characters infused with motion. Adapted from Robert C O’ Brien’s children’s novel, humble field mouse Mrs Brisby and her family have to move home, and they turn to the clever rats of Nimh for help. With gorgeous settings, action sequences, a sword fight and a cat fearing crow this is  a highly watchable and historic animation.

Tickets: €4.80 per person, €14.40 family ticket (2 adults + 2 children, 1 adult + 3 children).
