Join us for the 20th anniversary screening of Paddy Breathnach’s classic I Went Down.

This violent crime caper/buddy flick/road movie sees two hapless criminals Git (Peter McDonald) and Bunny (Brendan Gleeson) dispatched from Dublin to Cork to fetch a gangland leader in return for a favour owed to mobster Tom French (Tony Doyle). The two set off on their mission which only gets more complicated when they capture their non-compliant prey (Peter Caffrey). Conor McPherson’s screenplay is an impressive début: a comedy of errors characterised by quick-witted banter and poorly executed crimes which glides effortlessly between ribald humour, raw violence and nail-biting tension. The film enjoyed enormous acclaim in Ireland and abroad, winning both Breathnach and McPherson numerous well-deserved awards.

This screening will be introduced by director Paddy Breathnach.
