The Undying

Director: Steven Peros

USA • 2009 • 105 min

Here’s a rare thing indeed: a genuine, bona fide 100% World Premiere – director Steven Peros will be in the house to introduce his second feature, (first horror/genre film), a New Jersey-lensed ghost story that tips its hat to everything from Robert Wise’s The Haunting and Peter Medak’s The Changeling to Anthony Minghella’s Truly, Madly Deeply. Robin Weigert, best known as Calamity Jane in HBO’s western series Deadwood, stars as Dr. Barbara Houghton, who moves into a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse as she starts a job at a local hospital. Still reeling from the death of her fiance, she becomes obsessed by the story of Elijah, a Civil War soldier whose ghost supposedly haunts her new home. When Jason (Anthony Carrigan), a stabbing victim she has treated, is taken off life support, she steals his body and takes it to the farmhouse, where it becomes the vessel for Elijah to live again. A romance develops between them — but it all gets somewhat complicated when the spirit of Jason, a violent felon in his previous life, begins reasserting his control over his own body. Cue violent mayhem. Finding true love, as we all know, is never easy.

Screening followed by Q&A with director Steven Peros.
