THE TOLSTOY TRILOGY: THE KREUTZER SONATA

Director: BERNARD ROSE

99 minutes, U.S.A., 2008, Colour, 35mm

To mark the release of Boxing Day, December 21st – 27th, there will be screenings of the previous instalments of director Bernard Rose’s ‘Tolstoy Trilogy’.

Adapted from the novella of the same name, The Kreutzer Sonata is a story of sexual jealousy in which Edgar (Danny Huston) is unsure whether to trust his wife with another man since he himself stole her from someone. Perhaps better known for horror films such as Candyman (1992), this trilogy shows Rose to be a director of searing wit and intelligence.

As part of Bernard Rose’s ‘Tolstoy Trilogy’, Ivansxtc. will screen at 14.00 on December 22nd.
