OILEÁN THORAÍ

Director: PAT COLLINS

52 minutes, Ireland, 2002, Beta SP

A key entry in the Pat Collins filmography, and the deserved winner of the Best Documentary IFTA, Oileán Thoraí documents 18 months in the lives of the good people of Tory Island, situated nine miles off the Donegal coast. It’s a place out of time; a world unto itself where time passes differently and life is utterly profound in its sheer simplicity. A decade on, Collins has come full circle with his new feature Silence, which culminates with a visit to Tory.

Tickets for each of the Pat Collins’ Short Works are priced at €5.

This film is screening as part of the IFI’s season, Poetic Truths: The Cinema of Pat Collins (August 4th – 21st).
