MORRISSEY 25: LIVE

Director: James Russell

92 minutes, U.K., 2013, Colour, D-cinema

EXCLUSIVELY AT THE IFI

Released to mark Morrissey’s quarter of a century as a solo artist, this live concert film was shot at Hollywood High School in Los Angeles in March this year, an intimate gig for which tickets reputedly sold out within 12 seconds of going on sale.

Illustrating why he inspires such singular devotion from fans, the film captures Morrissey and his band on great, punchy form, delivering a precious set that revels in many gems from his vast repertoire and includes some classics from his pre-solo days when he fronted The Smiths, the dearly beloved, most influential and greatest band of their era.

To celebrate the exclusive release of this film at the IFI, our FREE Afternoon Talk on August 26th (16.15) will see sociologist Dr. Eoin Devereux discussing ‘Morrissey and Fandom’, exploring the meaning of being a fan of the singer.

To celebrate these screenings AND the arrival of award-winning O’Hara’s bottled beers (on sale now in the IFI Café Bar) you can buy 2 bottles of O’Hara’s for just €10 when you show your Morrissey film ticket at the bar!
