LET’S FRENCH: LE VOYAGE DANS LUNE

Director: GEORGES MÉLIÈS

17 minutes, France, 1902, Colour, D-Cinema

Due to unforeseen circumstances the IFI will regretfully not be showing Le Voyage dans la lune as advertised. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In collaboration with the Alliance Française on the 7th edition of their Let’s French . . . music festival, the IFI presents two films which merge the past and present to striking effect.

Georges Méliès’ most famous film, celebrated in Martin Scorsese’s recent Hugo, will be shown at lunchtime screenings during the festival. This was the first known science-fiction film, based on the work of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, using innovative animation and special effects, including the well-known image of the spaceship landing in the Moon’s eye. This newly restored, colorised version has been soundtracked by electronic duo Air.

This is a FREE but ticketed event. Tickets must be collected from the IFI Box Office when visiting.
