Overview

The Irish Film Institute is Ireland’s national cultural institution for film. At the IFI’s historic home in Eustace Street, Temple Bar, our diverse audiences and loyal members enjoy our 3 cinemas, IFI Irish Film Archive’s research and access facilities, IFI Film Shop and IFI Café Bar.

The IFI has developed strategic objectives around three core activities:

  • EXHIBIT Providing audiences throughout Ireland with access to the finest independent, Irish and international cinema
  • PRESERVE Preserving and promoting Ireland’s moving image heritage through the IFI Irish Film Archive
  • EDUCATE Providing opportunities for audiences of all ages and backgrounds to learn and critically engage with film through IFI Education

Digital Marketing Officer

Reporting to:                   Press & Marketing Manager

Key Relationships:          Public Affairs & Marketing Director,  Publicity Assistant, IFI Player Coordinator,  IFI Box Office

Overview:

The IFI is seeking to appoint a Digital Marketing Officer to join the marketing and communications team. H/she will be responsible for implementing the effective delivery of all online marketing initiatives for the company, incorporating IFI Cinemas, IFI Irish Film Archive, IFI Education, IFI International, IFI National, all film festivals, retrospectives, courses, special events and publishing properties.

This job description provides an outline of the key day-to-day responsibilities of the role.

Key Job Purpose

Responsibilities include the following key areas:

  • Online communications
  • Web and SEO Development
  • Social Platform and E-marketing
  • Audience Development/ Database Management

 Specific Duties:

  • Use creative and innovative tactics to develop audiences online through all the IFI’s digital channels
  • Advise and deliver web development plans through all areas such as SEO, navigation and design, ensuring all website content is consistently relevant, high quality, and engaging, in order to increase number of visitors to the IFI website
  • Work with the IFI Marketing team to develop and design visually interesting and engaging online campaigns attracting high numbers of visitors through social media channels such as – but not limited to – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram; and create socially engaging content through blogs, video stings and e-marketing strategies
  • Create and deliver monthly and targeted online campaigns, with detailed content schedules, social platform advertising and paid posts, and Google adword campaigns
  • Co-ordinate all e-communications using identified audience segments to create impactful and targeted ezines, increasing engagement and conversion rates
  • Maintain and develop audience databases, ensuring high accuracy, data protection and conversion rates
  • Monitor, flag & deal with any potential issues that arise on the IFI Website and social channels
  • Champion the consideration of audience development and online engagement using all digital channels throughout all IFI remits of exhibit, educate and learn
  • Using online analytics, establish key performance indicators to report on all digital activity, e – communications and social media, with regular analysis monitoring competitor activity, and online trends ensuring that online communications are constantly engaging with a wide spread of audiences
  • Be proactive in creating new engaging online content liaising with photographers, bloggers and videographers when necessary

Person Specification

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate strong examples from their past experience highlighting that they have both the capability and desire for this role.

The ideal Candidate should have:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and digital trends (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
  • Familiarity with WordPress, working with social networking advertising accounts and basic video editing and online publishing skills are an advantage
  • Strong working knowledge of customer communication tools desirable, particularly Mailchimp
  • The flair and creativity to devise effective online communications strategies, and have a proven track record of delivering successful online campaigns
  • Demonstrable experience of innovating and improving the online customer experience and showing sales uplift through online customer acquisition
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, teamwork, excellent organisational skills, excellent time and project management skills, be motivated, energetic and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience in the areas of planning and project management
  • A natural capacity to facilitate productive relationships with suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Someone who combines vision with the ability to make things happen, and can work on their own initiative
  • Have an active interest in Arts, Culture and Film
